mIRC@UndernetThe official #mIRC channel on Undernet

 Latest News | Aug. 16. 2007 | mIRC 6.3 has been released!

Welcome to the official homepage of #mIRC Undernet channel.

Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a great way to meet and talk to people all over the world in real-time on the internet. The first IRC primer RFC1459 was written by Jarkko Oikarinen between the late 1980's and early 1990's. Soon after this, Khaled Mardam-Bey developed mIRC, an IRC client for use on any Windows PC. This standard protocol and an easy to use Windows program, paved the way to more widespread usage of IRC.

#mIRC is a help channel offering support to users of mIRC who may have questions or problems related to mIRC. Our channel, #mIRC - Undernet was founded back in 1996, soon after the first public release of mIRC, and has been offering help to mIRC users continuously since then. To find us, connect to an Undernet IRC server and /join #mirc , then ask your question and wait for one of our helpers to answer, or sit back, watch and learn from the questions and answers.

This web site will serve to introduce our #mIRC help channel to you, and offer you some helpful mIRC related information, links and news. You will also be able to download the current mIRC version, and its FAQ.

 Channel Rules

We do not make rules to be mean or to exercise power. We only use the rules to try to keep the channel under control, non-offensive to all, and an atmosphere appropriate for those who need help.

Keep in mind the purpose of our channel #mIRC is to answer mIRC related questions, discuss mIRC issues, and help mIRC users. If you're looking for a channel for general chat, this is not it.

How to get help in #mIRC
*
We expect you to read the mIRC Help file, and mIRC FAQ before coming to us for help. Remember that everyone in #mIRC is a volunteer, freely offering to spend their time to help you, its not too much to ask that you try to help yourself first. If you're still confused after reading the help or faq, then by all means, come and ask us, we'd love to help you.
* Connect to any Undernet IRC server and then type /join #mirc
* There is no need to announce "I need Help" nor to ask "who can help me?" nor to shout "Help"; we assume anyone who joins our channel needs help; all you need to do is state your question or problem in the channel window.
* You may ask any mIRC related questions: how to get mirc, how to install mirc, how to use mirc, how to change mirc options, how to fix a mirc problem, how to make mirc popups, aliases, remotes, etc.
* When you ask a question, please be as specific and as detailed as possible. That will reduce the need for us to ask back for clarifications, or to assume what you mean and give you the wrong answer. Be advised that although #mIRC is open 24/7, there may be times when no helpers are around; we apologize if we missed you, and ask that you try one of the other help channels or return to your chat channel and try us again a bit later.
* If you ask a question about something other than mIRC, you may be directed to a different channel, or you may be ignored.
* Please use English in #mIRC, even if your English is not good, we can usually figure out what you mean. We have nothing against other languages, its just that having 5 different languages being used in the same channel gets very confusing. If you can not express your question in English, we may send you to a channel where help is offered in your language, or when someone who speaks your language is in the channel, you may get a short answer in non-English. Some OP's may kick you if you continue to use non-English, that's their decision and right.
* We have OP's and visitors from all over the world, many different countries are represented in #mIRC, and everyone from every country, every race and every religion is welcome in #mIRC. All we ask is that you abide by the rules of common courtesy, IRC etiquette, and treat others as you want to be treated.

General #mIRC Dont's
* Do Not be rude, vulgar, annoying or offensive to our OP's or visitors.
* Do Not flood the channel with more than 6 lines of text. If you can't explain your question in 6 lines, then you need to do some more investigation and preparation to get it down to fewer lines.
* Do not /msg the OP's or visitors of #mIRC. One of our bots will automatically kick/ban anyone sending msgs to #mIRC visitors. Ask your questions in the channel, not in private.
* Do not invite, advertise or spam your #channel or website or any other non mIRC related advertising in our channel.
* Do not use: Sounds, Colors, ALL CAPs, ascii art, automatic replies, Away/Back msgs into the chan, or anything similar that distracts our users and OP's from the mIRC help Questions and Answers.
* Do Not Repeat! It may take several minutes to reply if we are busy helping others, or busy reading our email or busy writing our own scripts. Patience is a virtue, if you wait, we will answer, if you repeat we will kick you. If no one responds after 5 mins, then you can ask it again and wait again for a reply.
* Do not ask for help in hacking, hexing, nuking, or making war, revenge, backdoor, mass, or any other such lame annoyances or illegal activities.
* Do not use Clones, our bots will automatically ban all of your clones as soon as the 3rd one joins, and some OPs may ban you after two clones.
* Do not argue with the OP's. they are always right, its their channel to control and their decision is final.
* Do Not ask us how to fix, change, install or use a pre-fab script written by someone else, that you downloaded or your friend sent you. Ask the author of that script how to use their script.
* Do not ask us to fix problems or bans in other channels, we have no control outside of our own channel #mirc.

NOTE: Our #mIRC OPs were chosen for their dedication, ability to help and think independently. You may find that one OP kicks you for behavior that another OP allowed, that is perfectly ok. Each OP is a unique person and has different background, preferences, opinions, and level of tolerance for those who annoy us. We reserve the right to ignore, modify, add, delete or selectively enforce these rules as we choose.
